§ 16-2. Unreasonable acceleration of vehicles.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to start or accelerate any motor vehicle with an unnecessary exhibition of speed on any public or private way, road, or parking lot within the corporate limits of the city. Prima facie evidence of such unnecessary exhibition of speed shall be fish-tailing, the unreasonable squealing or screeching sounds emitted by tires or the unreasonable throwing of gravel by the tires of the vehicle. With respect to two-or three-wheeled motorized vehicles, in addition to the above-listed items of prima facie evidence of such unnecessary exhibition of speed, the unnecessary removal of the front tire with ground or road contact by the operator of the vehicle shall be prima facie evidence of such unnecessary exhibition of speed.
