§ 16-28. Parking during snow removal.

  • (a)

    A snow emergency shall be declared automatically upon the falling of two (2) or more inches of snow within the city. The city council, city administrator, public works director or director of public safety shall have the authority to declare a snow emergency at any other time that they determine that weather conditions require a snow emergency declaration.

    (b)

    On all non-snow emergency routes, any motor vehicle left parked in one (1) place for more than twenty-four (24) hours during the snow emergency will be considered to be in violation of a snow emergency regulation and subject to citation and impoundment. The fine for such violation shall be set by city council resolution from time to time.

    (c)

    Parking shall be prohibited on all snow emergency routes for twenty-four (24) hours after the imposition of a snow emergency, or until the snow emergency route has been cleared of snow from curb to curb, whichever event occurs first. Motor vehicles parked in violation of this section shall be considered to be in violation of a snow emergency regulation and subject to a citation and impoundment. The fine for such violation shall be set by city council resolution from time to time.

Sections 1—4 of Ord. No. 88-5, adopted Feb. 9, 1988, nonamendatory of the Code, dealt with the same subject matter as that addressed by this section. Subsequently, § 1 of Ord. No. 89-20, adopted Dec. 11, 1989, repealed § 16-28; and § 2 repealed Ord. No. 88-5. The editor has included §§ 3—6 of Ord. No. 89-20 as a new § 16-28.
